About the author

I'm Dinesh Vatvani. A Data Scientist with a background in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Chemical Informatics from the University of Cambridge. By day, I'm head of the football analytics division at Decision Technology where I conduct research and analysis to help football clubs make better data-driven decisions, including player recruitment.

I also run a more general (non-football) Data Analysis blog.

About the site

This site is a hobby project developed and maintained in my spare time. The content in this site is of a very different scope to the football analysis I perform in a professional capacity. As such, player level analysis and other more commercially-oriented insights are beyond the scope of this particular project.

Tech stack

The site is built using the Flask web microframework and converted to a static site using frozen-flask. All the models are my own Python implementations, currently housed in a Python library I've created built on the pandas, statsmodels and sk-learn libraries for the data munging and modeling. Static graphs and visualisations are generated using matplotlib and seaborn. Interactive tables are generated using DataTables
